George Harms


George has been designated as a law enforcement officer and certified fire investigator since graduating the Virginia State Fire Marshal Academy in 1988.  He has worked for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and Loudoun County Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office, conducting fire and criminal investigations. He has worked with federal, state and local agencies while conducting investigations.  He has testified as an expert witness in court.

George is certified by the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI) as a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator and Fire Investigation Technician.

George have instructed many classes in fire investigation to various police and fire departments and other organizations in West Virginia and throughout multiple states. He is the opening presenter at the 71st International Association Of Arson Investigators (IAAI) conference in Las Vegas Nevada in April of 2020.

Currently George is employed by WV State Fire Marshal’s Office as regional supervisor where he conducts and supervise criminal fire and explosive investigations. He was the president of the WV International Association Arson Investigators from October 2018 to October 2019. He was selected as the 2017 investigator of the year for the West Virginia Chapter of the International Association Of Arson Investigators.
